 On May 5, 6 and 7, the Exhibition and Congress Hall in Ciudad Real has become an important geographical focus for professionals in the world of wine, who have gathered in the town of La Mancha to celebrate the National Wine Fair.
Better known as FENAVIN, this biannual event is set to reference the national wine industry and is progressing to have appointments between the most renowned businesses on the continent; it manages calendars and contacts with more than three thousand members from over forty countries.
All the Designations of Origin of our country have been present in FENAVIN 2009 and a total of 1,200 wineries have occupied the nearly thirty thousand square meters to which the exhibition area has extended in this fifth edition, which the international economic crisis has not diminished significantly.
Without a doubt this fifth edition of FENAVIN has been a resounding success, it greatly exceeded the figures recorded in 2007. Nearly 80,000 visitors, 3.680 international buyers from 43 different countries, 4.245 wine industry professionals and 118,000 business contacts confirmed the success, also an anonymous survey conducted among foreign visitors who have issued a note of 9 or 10 to this show.
This special date has been full with events and appointments, which has highlighted the activity of ‘The Business center’, which managed the contacts and meetings between exhibitors and buyers, ‘Business Finder’, a computer resource to optimize the time in conducting a comprehensive search of products that may be more interesting depending on various criteria, and the ‘Gallery of Wine’, a showcase of the fair as well as a comfortable and quiet space for a great wine tasting.
Seminars, lectures, debates, discussion panels and presentations, commented tastings, samplings and wine and food pairing have given a touch of color and scent to this extraordinary event, undoubtedly oriented in the wine business. Three days of frenzied activity that has allowed addressing issues as diverse and interesting as “OMC” of Wine, the growth of small D.O. in our country, new technologies and innovation in the production or enotouristic projects. The architectural world of the wineries or the female palates in the wine world show the content-oriented to the wine culture while awards such as 'A life dedicated to Wine' are responsible the most nostalgic and heartfelt notes and with a sense of tribute.
Unmistakable voices like Paco Valladares, Manuel Galiana or Concha Cuetos, conducted a beautiful recital entitled "Wine and Life", while familiar faces of the world of sport, like Sanchis or Michel, members of the incomparable “Quinta del Buitre” spoke about their wine project Casalobos.
However, the most prominent participation was that of Pancho Campo, the first and only Spanish Wine Master, who addressed the major challenges that face the wine market and formally presented the international conference WineFuture Rioja-09, which will take place next November, and have attracted Robert Parker for the first time in, the best known critic of the history of wine around the world.
